Hey, thanks for looking.

I own a small agency with a growing number of clients and we are in need of at least one extra set of hands to help us with a few interesting legacy projects, as well as a number of new websites set to launch in early 2010. Much of the work will be fairly light-duty application development/improvement, but we've got some big-ticket contracts coming up, and I'd love to have at least one person to call on for that purpose.

Most projects will also call for some front-end JS/CSS magic, as well. We work mainly with jQuery and Prototype, and I've been covering the front-end for some time now, but as with the PHP, we really need another set of hands.

We have a small studio in SoMa but just about all your work will be done remotely, as we don't have an available dev workstation here just yet. At the outset, you'll probably be looking at 10-15 hours a week depending on client requests, but as we ramp up for 2010 there will be an opportunity for this to become a full-time position. Here are the specifics:

Qualifications (in order of importance)

  • 5+ years of experience with development in PHP/SQL (experience with other languages, especially ColdFusion, a big plus)
  • Ability to accurately quote an estimated number of hours for development.
  • Experience with PHP-based Mobile SMS libraries or apps a big plus.
  • Preference given to anyone with good UI credentials, namely CSS and Javascript (jQuery, Prototype, etc)
  • Comfortable working within CMS frameworks like Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal

Availability

  • Ability to work remotely within our version-control framework (It's just Subversion)
  • Approximately 40-50 hours a month for the first few months, then probably as many hours as you want.

Compensation
Please let me know your desired hourly rate. We're flexible and can be competitive but we're still a small shop. For the time being, you'll be a 1099 independent contractor, but over the long term we're looking to create salaried positions.

Thanks a lot for your interest. If you already have a full-time gig and you're looking to make a few bucks on the nights and weekends, this is not the job for you. We're very serious about growth and we have a LOT of work on the table right now, I just need a good dev who I can trust to deliver excellent work in the long term.

Please send your resume to anklor (at) gmail.com, including at least two references and some recent projects you've worked on, as well as your hourly rate , for consideration.

We look forward to hearing from you! -Matt
