This month's base topic/presentation will be on PHP and memcached. CNET's GameSpot.com PHP development team will have a brief set of slides that deep-dive into code examples for using memcached to speed up your web applications and offload your databases. It'll be less of a presentation and more of a detailed discussion and Q&A.

More information about memcached can be found on danga's site as well as http://php.net/manual...

Map to CNET Networks, Inc.
When you arrive, please look for the PHP Meetup sign pointing you to the conference room. Please RSVP if you are attending so that I can prepare enough snacks and beverages.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Who attended?

    •  advanced technical, i like that
    •  Incredibly informative! I found it very useful to hear about how major websites handle scaling, enough that I now am a lot more positive about the scaling task for our considerably smaller project. A couple hours well spent.

I thought it was excellent. However, it seemed to be almost a totally different group of people than were meeting before, primarily being either employees or ex-employees of two companies. The content seemed to veer more into the difficulties encountered using memcache in mega-sites versus how to actually use the utility itself. It was probably the largest distibution of code and most detailed discussion of a very popular and important feature...versus the infomercials I have experienced in many industry groups which I have been a part of in the past. Time, delivery schedule permitting, I will happily attend next month. (I will also say it is much easier to criticize than to do a better job yourself).
    •  wow that was the geekiest non-java event I've been to in a long time
    •  Geeky, technical, and great!
    •  Great, lively discussion that covered a broad range of topics.
